Anklet Blog Hop

So ... another blog hop that I decided to break my 'no more blog hops' rule to join up with ;) lol  This one I HAD to join for two different reasons...

Reason #1 - It's something I keep meaning to make, but never seem to get around to doing...

and  Reason #2 - my friend Kashmira is the hostess :D

At the first mention of this I had 'ideas'.... then I signed up... but failed to jot these 'ideas' down, or pull out my stuff and get busy right then... and so promptly got busy with other stuff and the ideas slipped :/

When I finally sat down, some of the ideas returned so I got busy.  I had one a third of the way done when I was hit by the blahs over it... so I set it aside and started a new one. A third of the way in and wham.... eh.. not feeling this one either now *sigh*

Design three didn't even make it to the 1/3 mark.. think I managed three links and that was the end of that one lol

Yesterday hit and I knew it was down to the wire; I HAD  to pick one and finish it!  So I went with my first design and tada!! Done :)

I would like to point out however, that these were not the beads the original design called me to use at first... these were actually intended for a necklace.. however, as soon as I had my chain ready to go, my fingers ignored my 'instructions' and grabbed these instead lol

copper glass blue orange starfish seashell anklet chain beads

There...a whole bunch of glass beads in varying shades of blue, a few very light weight marbled orange beads that I have no clue what they're made of, and some clear iridescent type beads, all attached to a copper chain & clasp with two copper charms - a seashell and a starfish. The clear beads and the orange ones are yard sale salvage :) Actually, come to think of it, they fit the beach/sea theme too... because both of those were in the batch of goodies I bought a couple years ago during my stay at the beach :D

And I'm truly sorry for the next two photos. I'd spare you, however Kashmira insisted we show our pieces on a model... and there is only me here lol Please ignore the cracked heels and any stubble you might be able to see ;)

Hmm.... totally should've painted my toenails for this lol

And a close up :) I have a dress this would go perfect with... I love the colours and the flow of it, but I hate the way it sits on top... the dress, not the anklet ;) The anklet I love how it turned out :)

I think I need to make a couple more now. Skull appreciation day in coming up in a few days, so maybe I'll just have to make one for it ;)

Thank you, Kashmira for a great hop & challenge :) I look forward to doing this again with you!

Please check out the rest of the participants to see all the foot-bling they made :)

  1. I love the colors of the beads you used! I'm so fond of blues/turquoise/aquas... and matching the orange and white beads just makes it all the better! I think you made the anklet I first envisioned, only you added so many more beads! It looks better that way! :-)

    1. Ty :) I started doing it with a single bead, but it just looked... empty lol

  2. I love all the dangles! The movement and colors are simply perfect for summer. Isn't it fun when a design takes a different direction than what you intended? Glad you listened to your fingers! :)

  3. Sandra you did a great job on this anklet. It's kind of a cha-cha style which is perfect for an ankle bracelet, you WANT it to cha-cha as you walk!

    1. Ty :) and it has a soft jingle on stairs, and that faint light 'shush' sound as you walk and the beads shift :) Fabulous :)

  4. I feel ya sister. I thought, "I deserve a pedicure for the sheer I don't know what it took to put a picture of my ankle on the internet. Hey wait, I should have ad the pedicure before today. Ahh!" See I totally understand the last minute deal. Love the colors, design and especially the embellishments. Well done!

  5. Hats off to you for showing off your foot, Sandra... right from the start I knew I was gonna make anklets for my nieces so then it became "track them down for pics" (more of a challenge than designing!) This anklet looks SOOO comfy and purty, girl... something I would definitely wear (and I NEVER show my ankles!)

    1. bah, they're just ankles... and I shaved not that long ago so no stubble was visible ;) lol

Besides... it's not like we had to show our toes ;) lol toes can be very funny looking ;)

    1. ty :) I've been hooked on this colour combo since last summer >.< lol This should almost match a necklace and earring set I have... found the necklace and made the earrings to match... but of course, now that I have this to add to it, I can't find them >.< lol

  8. I love it. I have always enjoyed wearing charm bracelets and the song that each one sings to us as we wear it and move and I can just imagine the song that your anklet must be singing. It is really pretty. Great job!

    1. ty :) I actually made myself pay attention and listen after my comment about it chiming on stairs... and it does have a faint chime along with the shooshing when I walk :) My only complaint about anklets is that I like to cross my ankles and I can't when I where these >.< lol not without leaving little dents in my legs lol

  13. On, totally loving this a charm bracelet for the ankle. So much texture and color going on. Even though I'm not a blue girl, I would wear this for all the color, texture and charm.

I wear lots of blue, even if it's just jeans, so blue or black in jewelry is always a safe bet for me :)

  15. Sooooo pretty! Those colors...sigh! And that's like a gazillion beads you wrapped! I would have given up halfway, put in a plain chain and claimed that's the "design". Hats off to your perseverance. I like your model photos...I see a very pretty foot, not sure what you're seeing ;)

Am totally glad that you decided to make this challenge an exception to your sacred vow, O Holy One :P

    1. ty :) and hehe... I cheated... I had all the little guys wrapped on their own, planning to jump ring them onto a necklace... I just opened the links and added them to the bracelet instead... took some rearranging to get it looking right, and I still took a couple days to get them all added on.. but I wanted the full look :)
